I've had a bad habit of getting prospective papers like 80% done, then setting them aside and not touching them again. I have, like, at least 5 different articles ranging from 4k-8k decent words down on paper, and yet I just can't get them over the line.

During my phd, I could see myself sacrificing so much for the 'dream' of academia, that carrot on a stick. 1 year VAP; moving constantly for little pay; isolation. Whatever it took!
But, its simply not worth it, yall. Especially when you work in a field that no one cares about anyway.

It always throws me for a loop when I see people with 10s of thousands of posts on here. Inevitably, they end up being the type of person I have to mute.

tried to search on amazon, and it is so bad now. I just wanted to see lego sets, but if you type in Lego sets, you also get a bunch of trash sprinkled in as 'ads', and it gets confusing really fast. Just not a pleasant experience. Much easier to just go to the website of the actual company

The pressure of feeling like I needed to be working at all times that I felt during my PhD, and that left when I moved to the library-world, is back in my life. But, even worse because at least with the PhD I had friends and distractions. Here, there's none of that.

It's really easy to delude myself, thinking that all this scary climate change is going to re-normalise. Or, that humans in charge will find a way to make everything alright.

I was reading the wiki entry detailing all the things that living in space does to the human body. And, it's really bad.
There's no way anyone would be able to make a healthy trip to somewhere like Mars, it seems to me.

i wholeheartedly support strikes. but, it does indeed suck for me that trains are on strike on a day where I need to take a long trip for a flight. Like, on a good day, the journey was gonna take 5 hours. Now I have no clue what to do.
