Patients who wear a mask to access healthcare are NOT anxious.

Hospital acquired COVID has a 10% fatality rate.

Many of us are already severely chronically ill.

There’s a pandemic that is airborne and currently ongoing.

Adapting to a threat is not anxiety, it’s a justified, rational response

One of the easiest, most visible ways to resist is to mask

Safeguarding your health is more important than ever. It’s easier to fight back when you’re not chronically ill

It shows you care about disabled & marginalized individuals

It tells government you won’t be complicit in the harm of others

“The CDC was scheduled to publish several MMWR reports this week, including 3 about H5N1 outbreak, according to one federal health official who spoke on condition of anonymity to share internal discussions”

He’s withdrawn from the WHO and is barring communication from US based public heath orgs.
NEW—Trump WH has blocked all CDC science reports (eg MMWR) & suspended all CDC / FDA / NIH external communications of all HHS agencies until further notice... including all FDA & CDC Health Alert warnings & all social media. Public health be damned.

Public health is one of those things that you won’t miss until it’s gone.

Info blackout at the CDC, FDA and NIH combined with Trump withdrawing from the World Health Organization is a recipe for disaster.

Americans and the world need this information to make informed choices about risks to health
HHS official halts CDC reports and health communications for Trump team review
The pause in "public communications" through Feb. 1 includes new guidance and regulations, according to a memo obtained by NBC News.

Don’t underestimate the impact you’re making when you choose to wear a mask.

You’re protecting your health & the health of your community. You’re helping ease the burden on our healthcare system.

You’re standing in solidarity with disabled people & telling the government that no one is expendable

When I hear Trump say “merit based”… I fear for the disability community.

“people with disabilities, co-morbids, the elderly and infirm deserve to live too. Read that again if you have to because I want this message to sink in.

No one is expendable. We all have value”
How Did We Get Here and What Comes Next?
Disabled people have been warning others for nearly 5 years that eugenicist Covid policies would lead to a rise of fascist, racist, bigoted, misogynistic hatred. It's here now. So what’s next?

I know a lot of people don’t want to hear this… but if you’re going to talk about resisting & community building…wear a mask.

For yourself, for your community, for disabled & vulnerable people.

We’re watching what’s left of public health be gutted… protect yourself.

Now would be an excellent time to start wearing a respirator.

Do it as a show of solidarity with those who’ve spent five years being told they’re expendable

Do it for yourself. You don’t want to become disabled in the MAHA era

What’s the difference between a gov controlling an algorithm, silently eliminating reach for things it doesn’t like, vs the same gov using its power, to demand that the platform remove the things it doesn’t like.?

In China they are overt. With TikTok in the US, they control silently

More random #chronicillness tips:
-Walgreens/cvs med bottles can be made easier to open/unchildproof if you flip the cap and push it to close
-Straws for some reason help me drink more water. They might for you too
-crockpot/instapot is great if you’re trying to cook/meal prep on a high spoon day

In the spirit of still building community, some of my favorite #chronicillness tips:
-Stools. At the stove when cooking or prepping, at the bathroom counter when getting ready for bed, etc
-Electrolyte drinks in moderation. Liquid IV, buoy, body armour
-alarms for reminders
-throw out the ableism
