A patient is dying, but if docs extend their life by even 1 day, that's considered a 100% win.
I'm not being mean. I'm just trying to get the conversation going about what UHC could look like in US.

And acceptance that newer drugs are not necessarily better than older ones, though this is more of a societal shift in thinking. Also, Medicare has a problem with spending money on people to "extend" life instead of acceptance of quality at the end of life.

How about canceling debt for those going into the medical sector while they go to college and maybe after 5 years of working in the public system? We would also have to address malpractice lawsuits by either making sure payment is in line with a patient's lifetime wages or other criteria.

Oh my. The fascination on that face.

That's really cool. Have a great time.

Me too.

Usually, I receive a few cards, but not one this year. We're all trying our best. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and yours.

Happy birthday, Athena!

Blech!

That's my concern also.

This is what I want to do if I ever get my own home. Can they get up above the curtains?

At a recent Christmas craft fair, my niece steered me away from one of the art booths. Her take was it was AI generated. I couldn't believe the prices these people were asking for work they didn't even do. That's lazy and a rip-off.

Too true.
December 18, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Aside note. When did the 1st week of December become the last chance to get your Christmas cards out so they arrive on time for the holiday?! Seriously, it's taking that long to deliver a card? Sheesh...

I have NIN on my calendar at work for a day off. Coworker asked, "NIN"? My response, Nine Inch Nails. He's like, aren't you 60ish? Yeah, what's your point?! That stopped the questions.

While out with my kid, I told her I was cold!!! It was 42. Her comment," Spoken like a true Cali girl."

I once had an older family friend ask if I had considered becoming a nun since I was in my 30's and unmarried. Don't know how he would react that I'm in my 60's now and still happily unmarried. 😁

Monopolies, monopolies, monopolies. It's what our economic system encourages.

I just read that, on average, neurosurgeons make $350k a year, and the scale slides down until you get to fam practice docs, making $192k a year. Holy crap! Even the folks earning the least are making 4x's what I make.
December 11, 2025 at 3:44 AM
Jeez. This is from 2020. DEMS expanded coverage, but costs soared. Now GOP is trying to get rid of ACA altogether and push us to more privatization in which costs still soar due to the fact that capitalism encourages monopolies. Monopolies then restrict competition.

I had a boss tell me, "It's not personal, just business." Yeah , right. Until you're the one canned.

Same.
