Right, but the point is that medical records provide a lot of data. In DFW, there is an agency that collects this data from local hospitals (I used to work there) making it available for analysis. The law can’t stop data from being collected. It can only impact what the state does with the data.

Healthcare providers have to gather the data - it’s used for billing, etc. so it will exist. They are not collecting the data because of state mandates. So the state can’t tell them to stop collecting it.

Healthcare providers collect the primary data. Not the state. The state gets it from the primary source. There are often orgs (like in DFW, it is the hospital council) that pull that data from the medical health records (with patient identifying info removed) to used for analysis.

The raw data still exists. Perhaps an organization looking to hold the state accountable will analyze and report out the numbers…? 🙏

This infuriates me. However, the data will be out there for other groups to do their own research on it to hold Texas accountable.
