We are an active duty military family. Tricare will cover Tylenol, Motrin, Pepto-Bismol, etc. without a prescription. The pharmacy at one base we were stationed at would ask if you needed it anytime you picked up a prescription & just hand you a bottle. It was great!

Underwear. Many ppl live in places where they wear sandals year round, but almost everyone wears some form of underwear. Personally I avoid socks/closed toe shoes unless I absolutely have to.

I work w/preschoolers & SEL is NEEDED. I can’t tell you how much of my day is spent repeating some variation of “It’s ok to be mad, but it’s not ok to hit. Your friend can’t read your mind, you need to use your words to tell them you don’t like what they’re doing.” 🤦🏻♀️

I work w/preschoolers & SEL is NEEDED. I can’t tell you how much of my day is spent repeating some variation of “It’s ok to be mad, but it’s not ok to hit. Your friend can’t read your mind, you need to use your words to tell them you don’t like what they’re doing.” 🤦🏻♀️
Literally this. I work with 4yr olds & they are just beginning to grasp “number sense”, ie: the number 3 is the same as 3 items in a group. It’s important foundational skills, but these kids are not learning quadratic equations or anything.

I am a military spouse who votes absentee in AL. They make it SO hard. I have to snail mail a request for a ballot, then wait to receive the ballot, then mail it back. And I have to send the ballot request for EVERY election. I start the process 2-3 months before election day.

We’ve already decided we won’t be traveling for Christmas. Both bc our origin & destination airports are on the list for having flights reduced, & my spouse is military so our income is…precarious at the moment 😬

“Assorted bean slop” is one of my new favorite meals. It’s super quick & hearty, nearly infinite flavor possibilities. It’s good with pesto as well.

Canned butter beans, 1c chicken stock, 1/2 block cream cheese, whatever seasonings you like. Simmer in a skillet til the cream cheese melts & it thickens up, then mix in Parmesan cheese. Use crusty bread to scoop it into your face 😍

My favorite local bookstore is donating a % of Oct sales to local teachers to build their classroom libraries! I’m a staunch library user, but I did buy a couple books from my TBR so I could support their effort.

This is at Yokosuka. It’s the Navy’s biggest base in Japan, just outside of Tokyo. They have a commissary & can shop at Japanese stores. But having been stationed in Japan before, even commissary prices are extremely expensive. Most of the families we knew there qualified for WIC.
