On H.R. 9495 (the nonprofit-killer bill), our calls and texts to Congress made a difference. The bill still passed, but Democrats were stronger, and more united in their opposition.

2. Call about a topic that is under their control.
3. Be respectful in tone.
4. Identify yourself as a constituent (name, address, zip code).
5. Tailor your request to your elected's beliefs.
6. Use time wisely to express your position.
7. Know the issue you’re calling about.
8. Can’t get through? Try another office location or call after hours and leave a voicemail. If not urgent, email or a letter.

If your House Rep is a Republican, you could argue that a future Democratic president could use this power to target any nonprofit they support. If it would help, mention a conservative nonprofit organization in your district to illustrate your point.
