I saw this from @jenstanbrook.bsky.social on Instagram a few days ago and it jumped out and slapped me in the face.

A *steady* income with space to breathe *is* success.

Bandwagon? Jumped ✅

My version of the #starterpacknoai

I am loving seeing the creative backlash to the starter pack trend which, honestly, makes me sad.

Would have been my mum's 74th birthday today.

I have mostly been holding the older Mama in my head and heart, but realised there are many other Jennys I can hold on to, and it's the Jenny who climbed trees and did cartwheels and swung crazily high on the swings who is speaking to me now.

Saturday Selfie. Kinda. Actually drew it on Thursday and Friday.

If you’re in the UK, I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine.

More from the #Inky5DayChallenge with @inkygoodnesscollective … …

Today it’s something I’m proud of. The way I found to do #MorningPages – my #MorningInk – and I have got to 70 and missed a single day.

Do you have a regular practice that you love?

There's a lot to love about being a professional illustrator, but top of the list for me is hearing from someone who my work has reached or touched in some way (mostly joy!).

What's the top thing you love about your creative career, if you have one?

A slightly seasonal post (because it’s Mother’s Day in the UK today) talking about the discomfort of noticing behaviours, stances and traits of my mother’s in myself.

Got the paints out last night and completed this spread with some more trees. I don’t paint anywhere near often enough.

Reminding myself to keep sharing old work. This was from my animal A to Z a few years ago. I loved finding the patterns in animals’ fur and skin and going crazy with the colours.

This felt different today. I was drawing into the spaces and shapes, rather than thinking about depicting specifics.

It was an interesting feeling of freedom, discomfort, curiosity. An almost meditative state.

I let go of any connection to illustration, meaning or commerciality.

Which feels new.

Which colourway? I am leaning towards all blue, all darker pink or pink on green.

It’s Pancake Day!

I miss when the kids were little and we got to make breakfast pancake, back from school pancakes, savoury dinner pancakes and pudding pancakes.

This is my entry for the current #spoonflowerchallenge #noveltypaisley

I have a feeling I may have gone *too* novelty with my #plantbased #paisley #patterndesign

I had fun coming up with the concept and am busy making some other #paisleydesigns which are not quite so novelty.

An old piece that needs resharing today.

Sharing old work…

I still have a few downloadable (printable) colouring books available on Etsy. Haven’t marketed them in a long time. This one is 10 years old!

Forgot to share a piece of old work yesterday!

This shows how daily personal work can end up in final client work. First piece is from A to Z of Everyday Life; second is a chapter opener in List Happy.

Sharing another piece of #oldwork

This one’s a favourite from my #a2zfruitnveg

I really love drawing vegetables and fruit, and finding the beauty in their natural patterns and colours.

Continuing with the challenge of sharing old work. Some hand lettering today. I do love a chalky texture. And some motivational words!

Yesterday I committed to sharing some old work every day for the rest of February. So, here’s my A to Z of Everyday Life, from the start of 2021, drawn for Tom Froese’s The Style Class on Skillshare (www.skillshare.com/en/classes/t...), and mostly drawn during lockdown.
