thank you for this! it's possible i'm more worried about this than i should be; i have been told by a friend that i am "normal about knowing stuff," so perhaps this has been my attitude all along. either way, good advice!

you're supposed to assume that everyone already knows everything they'd ever need to know, and this doesn't come naturally to me! one of my favorite activities is when my bf reads me stuff from his theory books, and when i learn i was wrong abt smthn i am grateful to be given better information

one of the problems i've run into w/ this as an autistic american is that our culture dictates that people take non-authorities teaching them things as an insult ): (even if you take great care to avoid saying things like "you're wrong" and "actually") how does one soft-touch their way out of this?
