When those feelings came up I wasn’t consciously thinking about past experiences at all; they were triggered by events occurring in day-to-day life at the time that caused unresolved emotional responses to erupt. I was misdiagnosed with BPD. CPTSD fits better. www.mind.org.uk/information-...

In the process of writing this memoir I have been experiencing intense feelings of terror, excruciating shame, and wild anger that are not in any way grounded in my current reality. I realised that I’d been experiencing those feelings for many years, but was labelled as ‘over-sensitive’.

There is a sense of cautious repair that builds throughout between two characters with different nationalities, one of which committed terrible atrocities against the other (under the weight of multiple colonial powers of course). Contains a very cool garden.
