let's keep talking to each other and stick together. especially because in big tech's ideal world, we are simply classified as a cost center nuisance; a burden; unnecessary; expendable.

mini rant over for now. sorry if this is incoherent. i know i'm not alone and i can't imagine how helpless some college grads feel right now. i'm fortunate to have fallback career options from the pre-chatbot era and i'll continue to be a resource for others when i can.
damn, this sucks.

i don't see a viable path forward in the industry right now for me, and i'm not even sure i want one. if the bot gets to have all the fun from now on and i'm just its "supervisor", guess i'll go find a more fulfilling way to exercise my mind.

seeing so many folks go full gen AI this year, with no thought given to the downstream consequences on our brains and the planet, has broken something in me.
the destination (profit i guess?) is center stage. the journey (joy in problem solving, or the art of composing code) is being outsourced.

Heartbreaking to think of how many good downstream effects universal healthcare would have. Meanwhile, Congress decides to go backwards by letting Obamacare die on the vine.
