The origins of coffee grounds reading can be traced back to the 16th century, when coffee arrived in Europe from the Middle East. The tradition of reading coffee grounds is particularly deep-rooted in the countries of the Orient and the Balkans, where it is associated with a variety of cultural and social rituals. Over time, the practice spread to other parts of the world, finding its way into the parlours and coffeehouses of 18th and 19th century Europe. The exact origins of coffee fortune telling are unclear, but many believe it is an evolution of older divination practices. Even in ancient times, people used various methods to predict the future, such as studying the stars, throwing dice or interpreting dreams. With the introduction of coffee as a stimulant, the idea of using the remains of the drink as a medium for reading the future was born.

Outside the town there is a large bunker, bought and renovated by the Council at some point and used for extraordinary events. It should be fine for me, there'll be a lot going on, that's for sure. I know these people with their old-fashioned clothes and strange hairstyles, and I like them. They have a strange sense of reality, moving between the fashions of different eras. In a truly authentic encounter, historians could gain a whole new perspective – as long as they look beyond appearances. Pseudo-medieval meets baroque, you might say – I've seen practically everything but the Stone Age. It's boring, actually. None of this is new to me anymore, but the atmosphere there suits my purposes very well. When I arrive, I am surprised at how professionally the organisers have prepared the rooms. The insult to my delicate ears comes from one of the most popular bands in the genre. Black candles everywhere, in niches, on cloths and so on. There are firemen hanging around, which is obligatory and probably necessary for this candle orgy. It smells like incense from the mail-order house, and my delicate nose also detects the faint scent of grass – but that's nothing, that's all that's going on with the coat and cape fans. I don't know how long some of the girls spend in front of the mirror trying to look as dead as possible, but it must be half the afternoon. That's why I love hanging out in places like this, where pale skin and shadows around the eyes are a must.

Seen in the context of her time, she becomes even more unusual. Martha was born in 1852 in Princeton, Missouri, the eldest of six children in a family of preachers. Orphaned at the age of 15, she became responsible for her siblings. She looked for ways to support the family – and the young woman did so in a very unconventional way, not thinking of earning a living in the ways usually open to women, but taking a very different path. The American West was not populated by dainty ladies of the drawing rooms, because the settlers' wives worked incredibly hard. Without these strong women, the great treks and the development of the country would not have been possible – and they did it in the worst and most dangerous conditions, wearing bonnets and long calico skirts. But Martha chose not to – she put on men's clothes and set out to earn money. For women from modest backgrounds, the only way to earn a meagre living was as a laundress or cleaner, at least if it was honourable work. There was little talk of good pay.

The woman wiped back and forth a little on the windowsill with the duster, but wasn't paying attention. She wished it would snow, as it should at this time of year. She had hung a star with changing-coloured lights on every window, but the plugs were dangling loosely. She hadn't even plugged them in this year. 'But for what?', she thought to herself. No one would come to visit her during the holidays. The children were far away, somewhere in Spain. 'We want to avoid the hustle and bustle, Mother. All the fuss about Christmas is nothing more than commercialism. We'll send you a card.' However, the fact that her daughter and her family wanted nothing to do with this holiday did not exclude her grandchildren's long wish lists. They had asked Grandma for things whose names she couldn't even pronounce. She hadn't wanted to go to the shops with a meticulously written computer printout from the children. Instead, she simply put the money in an envelope and handed it over. She didn't care. If no one was going to be there at Christmas to unwrap presents and eat with her, what was the point?

26 years after the Martian invasion, the earth has recovered to some extent. The interplanetary war has long since been a thing of the past in people's minds – but there are warners. These, however, are not necessarily very popular. At the same time, some members of the Martian Council have the same blind spot in their perception. There, some Martians do not want to acknowledge the rapid development of the Terrans. What ended years ago as a disaster, since the Martian armed forces eventually fell victim to earthly viruses, could soon become life-threatening. Because the humans now have spaceships, it would be possible for them to reach Mars. But the Martians have a plan. A very ambitious and perhaps desperate plan, of which the Terrans know nothing. The denizens of the red planet have one big advantage, however: They are more unanimous than the humans, because those are still struggling with their territorial problems and still do not see themselves as inhabitants of the earth, but continue to be attached to their national and ideological thinking. This increases their difficulties considerably. But here and there, on Earth and on Mars, there are military men who think more clearly and perceive the constant threat of the sheer existence of each other. And indeed, earthly forces are on their way to Mars to prevent another attack and to retaliate. Not everyone has forgotten the incredible cruelty of the Martian attack. And the casualties.

Nevertheless, those who still want to create an eye-catching feature can find ways to do so. This way, they can enjoy the fruits of their labour. Nasturtiums are undemanding. They look beautiful and are hardy. This plant originates from South America and belongs to the Tropaeolaceae family. Seeds can be bought cheaply in several varieties in spring. There are climbing and upright varieties of the nasturtium, for example. The latter can climb beautifully up any support or drape picturesquely over low walls and borders. Sowing is very straightforward. The fairly large seeds are placed in the soil at an appropriate distance from each other. What then grows are lots of beautiful leaves that unfold quickly.

Believers adorn statues with beautiful robes and veils, decorate them with flowers, gold and pearls, and light candles in her honour. This is similar to the way the Virgin Mary is worshipped. The difference is that this saint is a female skeleton, often carrying a scythe. The Catholic Church rejects this, placing Santa Muerte in the same category as religious cults with unmistakably pagan origins. According to the Church, she calls into question Christ's victory over death.

Body language is an essential part of human communication. It encompasses all non-verbal signals expressed through gestures, facial expressions, posture, and body movement. Each of these categories plays a crucial role in the way we transmit and receive information. Body language reveals deeper emotions and attitudes that cannot always be expressed in words. The voice, i.e. the spoken word, is part of verbal communication and will not be discussed in detail in this article. Gestures are the use of hand and arm movements to convey specific meanings or emotions. This form of non-verbal communication can cover a wide range, from simple hand signals and gestures to complex signs that require a cultural context. In Western cultures, for example, raising the thumb often signals approval or success, while waving a hand is considered a friendly greeting. In other cultures, however, the same gestures may have completely different meanings. Particularly interesting is the relationship between gestures and language. Studies show that people often unconsciously gesticulate while speaking in order to reinforce or clarify their message. This combination of verbal and non-verbal communication increases understandability and can also help convey emotions.
