Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo!
November 8, 2025 at 5:31 AM
Went for a mountain ride to enjoy the autumn colors. There, I met a man riding a 100-year-old Sun motorcycle! —still running perfectly. It has just 3 horsepower, cruises comfortably at 50 km/h.Most amazing of all: its headlight is a gas lamp! A living piece of history roaring through the mountains!

After carving through the twisty mountain roads on my motorcycle, I came home ready for music—only to find my right AirPod missing! “Find My” shows it still out there in the mountains. Small in size, heavy in sadness...

Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki—3 of Japan’s big four were born in Hamamatsu. I visited the Yamaha and Suzuki museums: Honda leads the world, Yamaha appeals to the senses, Suzuki follows its own path. The Hayabusa and Katana still shine as Suzuki’s iconic legacies.

Hakone is a classic spot for Tokyo riders. Just had a blast there—amazing views, cool mountain air, and curves that really keep you on your toes. The Insta360 was perfect too, bikes and 360 cams just go together.

As a rider, I cut into the wall of rain beneath dark clouds. The shock of cold, the blur of vision—yet it reminds me of physics: entropy always rises. Still, as Prigogine showed, imbalance with energy inflow can spark new order. Riding through the storm, I sense that creation.

I toured to Honda’s museum on my bike. Soichiro Honda began from a small workshop, yet through passion and bold leadership built not only the world’s top motorcycle brand but also a car company famed in F1. His credo: “Technology is real only when it brings joy to people.”

Since taking up motorcycling, I hadn’t driven 600 km in one go. New cars have power, quietness, and great speakers—so effortless it’s dull. Bikes are different. Now I’m tempted by a razor-sharp supersport, the polar opposite of a car. Eyeing the Ninja ZX-6R.

Hard to believe I had zero interest in bikes this time last year—now I’m obsessed. Japan just hosted the Suzuka 8 Hours, a major motorcycle race. A friend who used to design bikes at YAMAHA shared some behind-the-scenes stories. Fascinating stuff!

My first group ride. Solo touring is easygoing, but riding with others takes more awareness. Still, watching my friends’ bikes was a joy. One stood out: a 40-year-old Kawasaki Z750—timelessly cool. A fuel scare midway, but all part of the adventure.

How many people know that Sony is selling a wearable air conditioner? In Japan, motorcycle riders are paying close attention to it as a potential game-changer for surviving the scorching summer. I’m one of them—just got mine and already giving it a try.

Motorcycle ferry trips are a joy—ride to the port, soak in a hot bath, relax at sea. Tomorrow at 9am, I’ll disembark and hit new roads. Met a 56-year-old Hayabusa rider onboard—post-childrearing, now riding 800km a day. Inspiring.

Many believe we can understand one another across cultures. I think that’s a misconception. What matters is coexistence without full understanding. No need to threaten, blame, or control. Simply sharing this planet may be enough reason to show mutual respect. That’s my hypothesis.

A rare 500km long-distance ride. It’s Japan’s rainy season, so I rode through showers with one eye on the radar. Thanks to advance prep, I had no trouble—but I did learn how hard it is to find rest stops. Covered motorcycle parking is surprisingly hard to find.

Some political leaders wield “justice” to justify violence, rarely smiling. Perhaps their rage isn’t at the world, but at their own lives—projecting inner discontent onto society. Few things are more dangerous than power in the hands of the deeply dissatisfied.

A famous(?) quote about motorcycles: "You don’t stop riding when you get old, you get old when you stop riding.", "Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.", "Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to ride in the rain."

The first time I saw the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, I instantly pictured myself riding along a summer coastline—and it was love at first sight. Just like in this video, I’m drawn to its cheerful, optimistic vibe.

After discovering the joy of ferry travel with my motorcycle last month, I’m planning another trip—this time over 10 hours by sea. Excited, but a bit wary of the rainy season. Some things, like weather, you just have to accept.

I’ve been tracking my sleep—REM, non-REM, wake periods, and deep sleep—along with vivid dream records upon waking. Feeding this into ChatGPT for analysis. Exploring better sleep and using dreams as a window into the subconscious for deeper self-awareness.

This year feels like a turning point in my life. I’m grateful to still feel this sense of excitement, even as I enter the second half of my journey. Hoping to embark on a path beyond my imagination. I’ve even restarted my morning workouts to reset body and mind.

Riders naturally share a sense of camaraderie. It’s a beautiful culture—exchanging casual greetings with strangers met on the road and wishing each other safe travels, even if you’ve never met before.

Tried a 500km/day long-distance ride on my bike—finished without much fatigue and gained confidence. Also satisfied I could load my bike onto a ferry!

We once spoke of forging character through life—a quiet discipline of becoming. Today, I wonder if the elderly are too often seen as burdens, losing self-control with age. The body may weaken, but the mind can be honed until the final breath. I hope to live with restraint and dignity.

I’ve spent decades exploring digital tools—laptops, iPads, digital ink—but nothing feels as natural as jotting ideas on a legal pad with a pen. The real challenge is storing and linking analog notes. I hope AI will soon bridge the analog-digital gap seamlessly.
