They’re a still pretty big deal in some circles, I have knowledge that my local city and country replaced a lot of their network equipment with MikroTik switches and routers. They’re still used pretty heavily for some enterprise style setups AFAIK.

Before I got a ruby position I actually did work with MikroTik routers and switches as well. I had a love/hate relationship with them.

I have a 2017 Intel MBP as well. For work I have an M1 MBP and they are absolutely night and day. I’m due for an upgrade as well, but I have 4 teenagers I’m also paying 101 other things on for them as well.
