a few of my former cinematography students & their peers founded an Analog Cinematography Club at Chapman after discovering Chapman was no longer teaching shooting on film. they are holding a free public screening of some of their short film work tomorrow at Kodak. I wrote a poem dedicated to the teenage girls leading the Women Life Freedom movement in Iran and read it. here I am giggling at myself before I started reading.

Houman Pourmehdi, Iranian master musician specializing in traditional Persian music, and his collaborator Amy Knoles played beautiful music. my friend Marziyeh sold psychedelic Persian inspired art to fundraise. we had donated sweet treats and tea.

my friend Sarah organized a fundraiser for the Center for Human Rights an org that amplifies the voices of those in Iran & their reporting on human rights abuses. Hushi set up a haft sin (Nowruz arrangement of objects symbolizing new year & spring)honoring martyrs of the Women Life Freedom protests.

my friend Line's film got nominated for an Oscar! THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE, nominated for Best International Feature Film. Line Langebek co-wrote the film with director Magnus Von Horn. The lead, Vic Carmen Sonne gives a hell of a performance alongside a talented cast.

I encourage you all to go see THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE in theaters if it's out near you. it just released in the US a few days ago.

this is me yesterday at a park near where I'm staying. it was a good 36/37 degrees Fahrenheit. I was drinking a coffee, wearing gloves, and trying to keep warm. I forgot to put on my beanie when I went for a walk and my head was cold.
