It's my dog's PhD, I'm just borrowing it.
Employment update: there is no good update. There is a high probability of partial furlough and it's looking more and more likely that I have to give up my life in Philly and move in with family.

If anyone is searching for a researcher, survey analyst, or any policy work, please let me know!

Hi poli sci folks! I fear I may be riffed in December and am actively searching for roles. My key skills are in survey design and analysis but I also have program management experiences. Please share any leads! I don't have a safety net and don't know what I'm going to do. #polisci #jobsearch

The state of federal contracting is a trash fire so I may be on the market again. My top skills are survey instrument design, quant modeling, and data based storytelling. I've got a PhD in Political Science and enjoy research design. Have an openings or leads? Let's connect!

I can't say enough good things about @albugenis.bsky.social . She helped me survive classes, navigate mental health in grad school, and is honestly one of my favorite people. Callie is also the sweetest girl and Mae is obsessed with her. Please donate and share if you can! gofund.me/58b411fe

The best part about putting together resources is you go to the government site and it's already been taken down. Cool cool cool. Not like I need to get this report to the government.

I got my PhD 2 years ago and I haven't been able to use the I'll write you a drs note and damn it I keep waiting.

Mae can't go to the dog park, so I am borrowing my friend's dog. Instead of playing, they both decided on couch naps.

Dealing with her IMT has been expensive and now we are in a significantly worse position. Best case scenario? Cushing's. Worst case scenario? Cancer.

Please donate or share if you can. She saved my life and I am doing everything I can to save hers.

Mae goes to the vet tomorrow to see if they can spark platelet creation. The vet mentioned extensive testing and referring us out when we were there Wednesday. Let's just say the anxiety is a bit higher than normal. I can't lose her.

Mae is in a particularly bad fare. Her meds were increased, but her platelets continue to drop. More news to come about treatment options. I will fight as long as she will.

The best part of the Lucy dacus concert was scaring the youth when my fellow 30-something friend and I talked about feeling old and life.

Concert was amazing. Girl in front of us-s reactions, priceless. She didn't talk to us but she was invested in the conversation.

Still here! Still fielding surveys and screaming into the abyss.

Still spamming everyone with photos of Mae.

Consulting is so similar to grad school without the existential dread or dissertation. One minute, I am emailing candidates to set up fellowship interviews and the next I am reading a bunch of primary documents for a grant report.

Most similar because I can do it on my couch with my dog.

I guess I've always known that the government outsources research(even lit reviews) but now that I am the one proposing SMEs to government clients and I want to say "me me me!"

7 months of being in social science consulting means that I've been fairly detached from academia outside my little adjunct gig. I am a spite monster and I will fight people for my academic friends AND you can't get in trouble for my actions.

I put it on the bad place, but I signed a contract today to become a senior analyst and work on survey instruments. It's been a long 6 months and I am really excited to get to dig in deeper to survey work!

Hi #polisky ! I'm still searching for a job. Ideally research associate or survey analyst jobs, but I am running up to the end of my savings quickly. I appreciate any shares or recommendations!

How many papers will the treatment of Nikki Haley spur and why do I suddenly feel like going back to my dissertation?
November 9, 2023 at 1:47 AM
Hi #polisky folks! I've been interviewing but no cigar. It's going on 6 months and the panic is setting in. I'd appreciate any job leads! Open to anything but particularly looking for research associate or analyst or survey analyst jobs that could be done remotely.

I'm officially leaving Raleigh next weekend. It's been emotionally and physically draining and I'm ready to be done. The vet that we are transferring Mae to is better equipped to deal with her condition and Mae can live out her days playing with my grandmother's dog that Mae loves to death.

She's popping up to say "hi please share or donate so my human can stop ugly crying every time she looks at me."

In all seriousness, there aren't words to explain my gratitude for the generosity people have shown. Mae is my world. She kept me alive, now I need to keep her alive

Mae's immune moderates thrombo cytopenia is back. Basically her immune system is at war and she has 0 platelets. I'm still actively on the job hunt. Any donations help. gofund.me/f0076760

I really miss the energy we had on the bird site. I know parts were toxic, but the academic crew was 👩‍🍳😘.
