I love this!! I took a whole class in college on sci fi/speculative fiction set in California (where I'm from) and it cultivated in me a lasting appreciation for the way specific places and environments show up in those genres.

I thought the same thing when I first saw the article, but I think the nuance is that under the current law *liquor stores* have to check before all sales, but bars, restaurants, and breweries don't.

The day is still shorter overall in Soldotna because it's farther north, but because it is farther east than Sitka (but still in the same time zone), the sunrise and sunset are both later.
