Call me a bleeding heart if you want but so many of the “cost saving cuts” end up both hurting people immediately. But hurt all of us long term.

I would much rather pay for that now than the thousands of dollars later. I would rather pay to keep people housed, than pay for their hospital stays. I would rather pay for a safe injection site than have my kid step on a dirty needle.
I would rather pay for shelters than walk past encampments.
