the way that firestar is particularly devoted is very interesting to me. ofc, in the fiction starclan is completely real and sends visions and cats go there when they die... i dont know where im going with this, im just interested in aspects of devotion

and then theres the religious aspect which is FASCINATING to consider. it never really pinged me as a kid, but then, i was raised catholic LOL. im not confident making sweeping thematic conclusions but something about the way clan cats are expected to believe in starclan and

thoughts: disability in cats is really NOT portrayed as true to life, which. you know. its a series about magic talking cats or whatever. it doesn't have to be. but it sticks out to me now

so ive finished rereading the first saga! something so charming about reading through all that again in my old age (i am not old), and though there's a handful of thematic threads i have my misgivings about now i can see why i loved this shit so much as a kid. cats! CATS!!

and for that matter what happens to non clan cats when they die?? do the books ever answer that? theres so many they have to have addressed it at some point, right? i kind of vaguely remember there is definitely cat hell, but like. kittypets dont go to cat hell. probably.
