What I found frustrating in NV was I thought all the factions were very shallow, so I just sort of defaulted to Yes Man and had a very boring time

Probably a matter of preference on that specifically, I tend to prefer when games have more defined "content" and are less aimless. Kind of why I liked TotK while BotW quite bored me

I actually liked Yotei, especially on a higher difficulty. With Wilds it felt like there was a lot of "fat", needless mechanics I never engaged with because it was all so easy

I agree, MH has been trying to remove friction for a while, and with Wilds you get a game so smooth you just slide right off

Nintendo hugely benefitted from families buying multiple Switches, because they were so affordable. Can't really do that with the Switch 2
