A nice morning for TECUMSEH by Matthew 'Doc' Dunn. Cosmic Range #001! And it sounds as much like a beginning of things to come as it does a present or future.

Some days I just want to live inside The Road To Ruin by John & Beverley Martyn, who released 2 records as a duo in the year of 1970. Every song on this is great. Also featuring appearances by Danny Thompson and Dudu Pukwana.

Re: Jeanne Lee favourites, I might place BLASÉ somewhere close to the top. A summer in '69 Paris date with Archie Shepp, Malachi Favors, Lester Bowie, Dave Burrell, and Philly Joe Jones. It's a hot 1 and it wouldn't be what it is without the unfiltered harmonica fuel of Chicago Beau and Julio Finn.

In the department of ambient-electronic-experimental, an oft debated category of sound ("it's too fast", "it's not really strange", and on and on), a timeless album called Love is Fine, by Sal Grosso, sits comfortably, raising a timid hand (pick me!), ready to be played no matter the season or mood.

I could listen to Jeanne Lee and Mal Waldron's After Hours (1994) any day of the week. In the liner notes, Jeanne thanks Mal for playing in a way that allowed the session to take on "the relaxed and intimate quality of after-hours communication". Will share more Jeanne Lee favourites in the future.

A couple copies of the new Peter Brötzmann bio are now available to borrow from the Toronto Public Library, but you need to wait for me or the other person to finish. Place a hold and wait your turn. The Complete Machine Gun Sessions CD is also available if you prefer to listen.

a fresh and "NEWLY REMASTERED" (again and again) version of Polmo Polpo's Kiss Me Again And Again (Dinosaur / Arthur Russell). very fitting, like a promise fulfilled, that such a recording made its way back to the desk. feels real slick + perfectly endless.
