The Cranky Cripple
@tanyasin.bsky.social
Cranky cripple and old school social worker who has a tendency to return to uni once a decade in the desperate hope of eventually not being a social worker anymore. Currently studying history as I have too many opinions for social work and FDV funding
So at Pilates, another person who turns out is an mser, spoke about how MSWA was screwing her over with allied health (claiming massive amounts of time each session for paperwork). I *may have* told some home truths about MSWA, my traumatic experience with them, and MS Australia and state branches

My old boy cat had to have teeth out on Monday and can’t eat regular food for a week due to stitches.
He doesn’t like chicken though (the recommendation is boiled chicken for a week)
My house stinks of extra stinky (pip’s choice) cheap tinned salmon and tuna right now and it’s not pleasant

White people suddenly care about and are are activity advocating for peopleOf the Islamic faith for the first time in a couple of decades
Think and reflect about that
It took genocide in Gaza (an almost white population) for you to care about muslims

If you call someone who struggles with mobility and don’t leave a message - that’s a subtle form of ableism.
I’m not going to rush to answer the phone and risk falling. I’m also not going to call you back if you don’t leave a message saying you called

Unfortunately I don’t get out into the bush that much these days in Perth as most are so inaccessible for people who use mobility aids and expensive especially given there isn’t much I can access. Serpentine Times falls is one of the few waterfalls I can access in Perth. These are a few photos

Currently fascinated in the journey of chickens. They are from SE Asia, made is to the Middle East around 800BCE and then into Europe. They similarly went west around 800CE to Hawaii. I have an essay on a different topic due but I’m totally following this rabbit hole when I have time!

So I reacted to medicinal cannabis. That’s not a huge surprise given my history. What concerns me is the company I went through did no follow up even when I said I am likely to react, didn’t believe I was reacting, and just think I need to try another product as the dose wasn’t right

To the young, white, male evangelical who was telling his friend that he’d love to set up a hostel for women who are pregnant to support them with advice from good church women, whilst I was having lunch
Yeah, the church did that, women learnt not to trust the church. See the Magdalen Laundries

Alouette took up residency here at the start of the year (from cat haven). She’s oneish
This is the first time she’s fallen asleep, purring, on my legs!

Urge MS life is always about saying goodbye to parts of your life
I think yesterday I said goodbye to hosting dinner parties. Struggled with organisation pre the event, zoned out during it, likely to be on the couch or in bed for maybe a week after.

How bad does it have to get for the west to declare Israel a threat and aggressor?

There is a generational gap not spoken about
My parents are boomers
They expect systems like health to work eg referrals will be followed up, they’ll be treated fairly and with respect
Millennials know to trust no one and to never expect respect unless it’s earnt, nor to trust systems
Squeaky wheel

MS Crash course
In short, MS is your immune system attacking your central nervous system. So, it can attack your brain and spinal cord. At the moment, my MS is attacking the nerves affecting my fingers (different from hands) and these nerves come from the top of the spinal cord. It sucks

Anyone else go to bed, wondering if WWIII or MAD happened overnight?
In realty though, given my time zone, I’ll probably be awake when the Cheeto in Charge makes that terrible decision

I’m seeing so many professional organisations suddenly care about people with disabilities
Why?
Because their excessive claims are being curtailed
PwD are supporting it as they are scared of loosing services
But here’s the thing - you shouldn’t need to go into debt to get therapy services you need

Saw a post on FB from an MSer joking how she was caught badly parked in an accessible bay (half over the hatching). Looked at her page, she’s “I have a sore shoulder, look at me!” Kimmy MSer
It reminded me why I have nothing to do with the local MS community - full of Kimmies and absolutely toxic

Tonight’s thought
We say oral history is unreliable
But people trusted the telegram and semaphore services to accurately relay a message but it’s basically “Chinese whispers” (hate that term).
The issue seems to be a lack of gadgets. Gadgets = authentic message

Being the female child always sucks
- you are assumed to be the “worry” growing up
- you are expected to care for your parents whilst your male sibling gets all the credit for doing the bare minimum and don’t you dare complain about this!
- your greatest achievement is apparently kids, nothing else

We are investing in women’s sport - we are building new change rooms, not providing actual support
We are investing in women’s health - bits and boobs conditions affecting loud, privileged women
We are appointing a female leader - we need someone to take a fall whilst doing all the rebuilding work

It’s World MS Day,so this is your reminder that MS is worth a lot of money to drug companies who can pass off drugs that fail for other conditions as ms treatments and many who “care” for us have massive vested financial interests in their success. This includes MSWA, MSAustralia & many neurologists

There is such a class differentiation in Australia when it comes to alcohol abuse. A close family member has been told to quit alcohol immediately due to cognitive decline. They are ignoring this, not taking the diagnosis seriously, but still are being treated with respect as white and middle class

Another high profiled sportsman completed suicide so we are again talking about mens’ mental health
But can we also talk about women’s mental health?
May 19, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Can someone explain why women’s health is your boobs and bits, but men’s health is their whole body, including mental health?

On a streaming service, I’ve been listening to a play list of Hildegard de Bingen. She was an amazing polymath but she’s best remembered for her compositions. Honestly, they are different but brilliant. As a recorder player, I’ve played a lot of early music but nothing like her works
