The quietest person in the room isn’t always lacking confidence.
Sometimes, they’re scanning the space:
- Is this safe?
- Do I belong here?
- Will what I say be heard?
If we want people to show up fully, we need to build spaces that make that possible.

Confidence isn't evenly distributed. Especially in spaces that weren't created with everyone in mind.
What if instead of asking people to "speak up", we asked:
