I’ve been asked to write on how sport orgs use social impact through sport as a marketing technique to improve capital. It’s been a minute since I’ve written anything, so while I have it written in my head, I’m finding it difficult to put it on paper. Writing really is a skill you have to keep up 😅

Also added is the need to heed the fact that sport has been transformed into a political and economic battleground. We cannot abandon it. Jennifer Giuliano has notably reiterated the need for action, beyond advocacy.

Intentionality. That was my word of the week at the #NASSH2025. As academia fights current political statements in the US, it is my job to push back. It is our job as academics to be intentional with our mentorship, leadership, and teaching practices.

A consensus: As an academic society, we should all do better to support our members, but also to support the people rendered more vulnerable in the current moment.
