yet the German language with its endless compound words and discriptive names for everything (Plane = fly thing; glove = hand shoe for example) calls this little guy "Specht"

Talking to my parents it always amazes me how different their experience was. They grew up and were already married by the time Germany reunited and everything they tell me from before seems so surreal and scary to me
