First time at the Notting Hill Carnival yesterday. Excellent experience - great to see different cultures, wonderful music on the parade and excellent costumes.

Long day though, out of the door in full make up at 6.30am, drinking and dancing most of the day, home at 11pm. Today is for rest.

I don't know why it made me happy to watch them, but I hope it brings you joy too.

Yesterday I went to an exhibition by Steve McQueen at the Turner, about the history of protest.

It was fascinating, and I've included a few that resonated with me, about people coming together to protect minorities, and how joy can be a form of resistance.

I recommend going if you're near Margate.

No snow here, but we are getting some gorgeous hard frosts. Put on my warmest layers for a lovely long walk today and met this little poser.
