I remember that same setup but with an Atari 2600 😂.

Yes we Texans love to drive tiny cars 😂😂😂

Your argument is based on the perfect scenario about the tech only. We also need studies on how humans interact with the tech. Unintended consequences that cannot be modeled without real world use. The human factor. Studies just barely are coming out on this part - the focus is on the shiny new tech

At this point in time - I do not have a lot of trust in the massive amounts of money and motives behind AI companies, and you are sidestepping this point I keep making. We do not live in a bubble that is technical only - lots of money and politics are involved.

I am too in a perfect world. I am not confident in who is building and funding the medical AI programs, and exactly how medical professionals are being trained on it. And the lack of complete ethics and morality from AI CEOs gives me great pause on trusting AI - at this specific moment in time.
December 4, 2025 at 7:59 PM
Agreed. And I don’t even think Talarico will win but I know how rabid the Christian Nationalists are here. They live on hate for people not like them. Aka minorities, LGBTQ folks,women,non-followers of their insane hate religion. They will come out in lockstep rage to vote against Jasmine.
December 4, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Outside of theoretical think tank discussions, what are the real world and very moral implications? For me,and I have worked in IT for the last 25 years,I am not very comfortable with my medical Drs using AI to diagnose - as you said we aren’t there yet. I don’t care about the future state of AI.

Have you read this yet - very good analysis, and there is a great follow up article too. This is exactly my fear. And we have seen this firsthand in prior elections in Texas. The groundswell of insanity ads stirring up the lunatics to vote.

Yes. Dem turnout is hard and we don’t have the full infrastructure yet and the money backing by DNC. And don’t underestimate the power of hate in a bigger R turnout just to vote against a black woman. The racism and misogyny is huge here 😒.
December 4, 2025 at 5:59 PM
Remember when the open container laws changed so parents would just pass the open beers to the back seat? No clue how we all lived.
December 4, 2025 at 4:43 PM
These aren’t really different takes. One is based on how we feel and who we want in a perfect world, and I love Jasmine 🩷, the other is based on political strategy and what makes people vote, or stay home. The winner of the primary has to get through the general too. And Texas is racist AF.
December 4, 2025 at 3:49 PM
He absolutely is not. For years he has been the loudest supporter in the Texas Lege for our LGBTQ, especially transgender, kiddos. He has also advocated for the separation of church and state and for public education. He’s a hard core progressive. Nothing like Fetterman at all.

Abbott will be very very hard to beat with any candidate. His war chest is HUGE. And probably the reason none of them are running for Gov is because their internal polling shows they can’t win. Why they all pile around this Senate race because those polls are showing competitive.
December 4, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Yes. And I hate it being that I’m a woman (white) with biracial kids and one is LGBTQ. Texas especially is so racist and misogynistic - the insane Rs will comes out in droves to vote “against” a black woman.

I have no faith in white people to not be racist AF, nor in men to vote for a woman 😡.
December 4, 2025 at 3:15 PM
That’s my fear based on being involved in local school board races and dealing with the batshit Christian Nationalists in Texas. These insane Rs will crawl over broken glass to vote against a black woman, when they may have stayed home. Hate and rage is their sole motivator in voting.

I want the station wagon we had when I was a kid where the third row faced outwards and if someone got in a wreck kids would just fly out of the back window - no seatbelts either 🙄.

LoneStarLeft has a very good analysis on some of my personal worries, and she has a very good follow up to this article. And I LOVE Jasmine Crockett - she is a badass. Not a reflection on her at all.

It’s huge. It’s a 13 point swing towards Dems in a ruby red district. I live in Texas where they gerrymandered to try to squeeze out more R seats - this trend shows that Dems have huge pickup opportunities in those barely R gerrymandered seats. R+5, R+6, R+7 etc? Those are in play now.

That part about not reasoning the way humans do is the main point that should be highlighted.

Critical thinking skills and those connections our brains make <> “learn + abstract reasoning patterns”. Not even close.
December 4, 2025 at 12:31 PM
Have you or anyone done any statistical analysis on the negative partisanship turnout? This would be kind of hard but I it’s doable I think with enough info, even if not completely precise. Wonder what % more turns out with the mega polarizing candidates. My field is IT so I like the math part.
December 3, 2025 at 9:29 PM
I’m a white woman with 3 biracial kids (Chinese) one is LGBTQ. We saw first hand in our CyFair school board elections just how much hate fuels the GOP voters.Hate for our minority and LGBTQ CHILDREN.They are rage filled and vote for hate “against” every single time. And I hate this but it’s reality.
December 3, 2025 at 8:56 PM
Dumbasses are a lot older now.

Have fun with those old people insurance rates, hope you don’t have any medical problems that you didn’t even worry about in your 20s and 30s 🙄.
December 3, 2025 at 4:25 PM
Yep. Remember the million dollar lifetime cap? Preemie babies with long NICU stays (5 months) capped that out before even leaving the hospital. Lifetime cap 😡
