Every time I say "toki pona" in a sentence in Toki Pona to mean something like "speak peacefully" or "confirm", I picture Peter Griffin popping out and saying "Ha! Ha! They said it! There it is!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8mYLi3PGOc #tokipona

The horrifying moment when you realize you've improved your mental health enough that, when you fuck something up, you have to actually process it in a healthy way by having emotions about it and stuff. My maladaptive coping mechanisms... my kingdom for a maladaptive coping mechanism.

/2 Put another way, say what you want about the tenets of national socialism, at least it’s an ethos. But some people have the souls of Nazis — a reflexive race and religion-based hatred — but lack the character to stand up and say “this is who I am.”

They lack the character EVEN TO BE A NAZI.

A world divided among Russia, China, and the U.S., each as hegemons of their regions, their leaders feigning hatred for one another while avoiding any real external conflict so they can focus on their real goal, controlling their own subjects' private lives.

Literally Nineteen Eighty-Four. Like […]

I think around now the calculus changes from "You should leave the US because it's increasingly unsafe" to "You should leave the US because the outcome where it crashes and burns is the best-case (plausible) scenario for the rest of the world and you don't want your (ostensible) wellbeing to […]

*Oh but I should make sure the ringer is at max in case someone calls me.*

Phone: RING RING RING RING RING RING RING.

Clicked on a headline from the Denver Post and was taken to a page that was just the headline and a button saying "Exit mobile version".

I feel like some dev at some point was told "People say articles aren't loading on mobile, do something about it" and this was their solution.

Timezones are so silly. New Zealand and Australia are in 2026, Canada is in 2025, and the United States is in 1939.

Hello from 2026! It's a lot like 2025 but with more fireworks.

Today I learned that edible flowers contain proteins similar to pollen, and may also have pollen on them, and that if you have a mild-to-moderate pollen allergy and decide to drink two liters of roselle juice over the course of a day and a half because you're fighting off some kind of cold and […]

The "direction-person" is a perfectly reasonable unit of measurement for travel costs, and yet I feel like if I used it I would not be understood.

@spamcan.bsky.social is cute.

... edit: Specifically, cute enough for me to delete and repost this because apparently Bridgy doesn't consider "quiet *public*" posts to be public.

[Wikipedia "Did you know..." from the distant future]

... that the phrase "reb racketing" to refer to shifts in syllable breaks is not related to Reconstruction-era moonshining as commonly thought, but is actually a reb racketing of "rebracketing"?
