Magic is neither good nor bad, it amplifies the dreams you feed it. Since the dawn of time, gargoyles have gathered around sources of magic to protect us from the worst things people dream up. Most gargoyles choose a human Guardian to work alongside them. Under some duress, Zariel chose Callen.

Gosh, I hadn't clocked that you're dyslexic - I'll tell my daughter. It's incredibly reassuring to see grown-ups who've faced the same struggles but are now thriving. Made by dyslexia was ace for that - she did a school project looking at the impact of their campaign

One of my kids was (still is) a book addict. Our local indie bookshop was a brilliant place to discover new authors / series. Having bought the first one, we'd get the rest through the library. Children's booksellers are so good at 'if you like that, try this'

Happily, my cat is an expert writer's cat - if I'm writing, she's sleeping. It's a good way to stay put and keep working. It's called being inca-puss-itated

I love the amount of quirky humour hidden on the rooftops of some very venerable buildings. I found all sorts of gargoyles when I was doing research - from aliens to dancing foxes and everything in between
