Instead of shopping today, why not go to a state park instead. All Minnesota State Parks have free admission today.
Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday. Shop then.

While your Friday after Thanksgiving may be filled leftovers, shopping and naps, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is encouraging residents to stop by a state park or recreation area, free of charge.

Tuesday and Wednesday hikes at Snail Lake Regional Park.
While I realize the weather creates extra challenges for many, I am glad to see the snow. Late November in Minnesota should have snow.

Have you hiked Fairy Falls in Stillwater, Minnesota?
I recently explored there and would love to hear if other's experiences are the same or different from mine.

When I am asked what I think about Kirk's death:
*His views were abhorrent to me.
*Violence is bad.
*Losing a loved one is horrible. *Worshipping a human is disturbing.

I don't like how violent the world is. One of those responsible for it is being held up like a hero. I will not take part.

These are two recent works that I am bringing to the studio today. One very cheerful and one very somber. I'm experiencing lots of variety in my emotions lately, perhaps others are feeling the same?

I'll be in Studio 321 Northrup King Building today from 12:00-4:00.

I agree with what this person is saying. In addition to the crisis in Ukraine, consider gun violence and ICE raids in the US, and so many other issues that are making our country not great. How is it that the orange fool is not impeached and removed yet?

I'm enjoying drawing with paint pens on canvas.

These are garlic mustard plants.

I've been pulling out this plant from my yard. It is native to Europe and I am in the USA. It is considered invasive here. If you live in Europe, lucky you! It is visually interesting and edible.

August 16: Stop the Trump Takeover rally on the pedestrian bridge over I-35W in Minneapolis. Power to the people!

Side note: the photo edit tools on my new Google Pixel 9 are frustrating me. Can you tell where I removed a person? I couldn't figure out how to blur faces.

Perrot State Park in Trempealeau, Wisconsin, USA. This is the view from Perrot Ridge. We walked from the Ranger Station to this ridge, to Brady Bluff, and back to the Ranger Station. It was exactly 3 miles. (almost 5km) We recommend hiking this loop counter-clockwise. Challenging hills. Worth it.

I read this post on Adam Kinzinger's substack. I agree. A strong middle is needed. I want us to stop going off the rails on this crazy train.

Do you ever feel unwanted or undervalued? Maybe you can relate to the garlic mustard plant. It is an invasive, but also a tasty treat.
As always, do your research before foraging.

I told Gidget, "Well, they did it. They voted to steal from the poor and give to the rich, and to increase funding for ICE so they can kidnap more people, and so many other cruel things." Gidget says, "Why would they do that?"
I don't know.
Sometimes humans can be so unable to smell the crap.

The vote last night on the Big Awful Budget Bill was just to agree to continue the process, but it passed 51-49. ARGH! Rand Paul of Kentucky and Thom Tillis of North Carolina were the only 2 republicans voting no. The rest of them clearly do not care about people.

Even in this crazy world we live in, creating art and looking at art are important. It is a way to process what we notice. It gives our brains a chance to use different pathways and create new ones.
It just feels good.
