Rural teacher. But, this is my personal account.
Before the noose tightened to the point of despair, people in the rustbelt weren't always clamoring for their rustbelt jobs back. They had dreams. 6/

This is the door you walk through to get a divorce in Sitka.

I don't know if I can survive in any other state now. This just makes sense.

I didn't make it to my normal hike. So, I walked with your story in my ear to here instead of my usual mountain. And, aptly, there were ravens and mist to accompany me.

It was very compelling, and you write women incredibly well. I didn't think I would like listening to it at the beginning. ...

Also, due to the oil industry, we have great Cajun food throughout Alaska.

Once upon a time, there was a Republican who knew that the path to survival lay in an appeal to our better angels and a different sort of patriotism, not to fear.

Whoever did this "look up your name" thing for Urban dictionary made me feel #cuteaf this morning.

Haven't been in a while.

Don't believe it's true. But, still just as convinced that it's important.

&, Old Calendar Christmas is coming up fast.

I'm going to cover my head. I have no idea why.

But, I will also cross myself & make metanias at the appropriate slavonic & yupik phrases. Weird.

I am fighting a radiative cooling situation w/ my bathroom floor these days.

Is the side w/ less frost pointed toward a building? That could cause the temperature difference even if you don't feel it when standing there w/ insulating clothes on.

Pic is from my bathroom floor. Air temp was 70.

until aphelion, when the cringe of that 1/2 orbit catches up to them.

So, go carefully, sir... 😄

heart, I will be able to run my fingers through the (non-aether) cosmological medium & generate light like it's a luminous tide.

And, now, people who spoil perihelion wake up the next morning & _voluntarily_ choose the other metric signature & talk about how great it is like someone on keto 2/

I'm making #perihelion resolutions this orbit.

Careful. Don't touch our star just because it'll be shiny and close.

It will also be hot.
And, we will be going by fast.

Blessed feast!

My favorite hymn of the Nativity. And a translation.

But what if, as Kierkegaard warns, the anguish of infinite choice leads us to despair?

Honey is concerned that Philip might feel overwhelmed by the weight of possibilities.

My favorite part of the ancient hymns are the ones that celebrate her role in the great paradox. Love that part!

From the Kontakion of the Nativity by St. Romanos:

(I know. But, replying anyway.)

Like this.

Yes! I don't want to spoil it for Magnus. But, so much great stuff with the golems.

But, I think my favorite overall is the ideas about nobility in Guards! Guards! and Men at Arms.

An entirely unmagic sword? Loved it.

Just saw this. And, yes.

Hogfather is jumping in in the middle of a world. So, it might not resonate. But Pratchett is a deep thinker with a sense of humor about it all. Reminds me of a physicist I know in that way.

Meh. You can keep your sky. Leave the white, seafoam mares for my (Welsh) people.

Also, stay out of my ocean. All of it. All of you.

Also, thank you for this. Love Turing. Hate this damn quote.

Any science or theology that doesn't run to the boundary conditions to test what's really real is- in the words of The Dread Pirate Roberts- "trying to sell you something."
