What we need is a database of all men’s DNA so every baby can be matched to a father. We can take a baby tax out of their checks and hold it, like Social Security, and then pay out to the mother monthly, like a SS check. We’ll see how eager they really are for babies if they’re forced to pay.

Aside from reporting that at least 75% had no criminal record or gang ties, there's also the question of what happens after 1 year? The agreement is we paid for 1 year of detention. After that...what? Bukele said no one leaves CECOT alive. They wouldn't send them back to the US.So they are executed?

In the end they don't even care if they have to drop the charges because the point is the fear of the humiliation ritual of being arrested, perp-walked, strip searched, and treated like dirt. The fear of that process is enough to stifle many from fighting back against this admin.

What she’s missing here is that he’s the best person for this issue because if the worst of us don’t have due process, then the best of us don’t have it either. Due process doesn’t mean we defend his behavior, it means we defend the rule of law.

I feel that what has happened is the veil of plausible deniability has been lifted, now we Americans can see what the rest of the world has always known about our capacity for raw cruelty. We are at a crossroads. Will the majority choose to correct course, or double down? I fear it is the latter.
