Yes, in my game, everything that you can "open" and "close" is a Door. Except for books, though I'd thought about making them doors, too.

There comes a point in gamedev when you start questioning certain life decisions.

If I'd called my game "Typewriter Simulator", I'd be almost done now.

Second attempt at the typewriter paper animation, now taking a paper rest into consideration.

It's a bit wobbly in a way that reminds me of old claymation effects. However, in-game, it won't be one continuous animation, but going line by line, so I think it may work.

I want this to be the end of the road trip.

I can't say I've been enjoying animating the paper in this typewriter and my approach to doing it is probably dumb, but I think it's turning out alright ...?

Fellow old people out there: This is how paper behaved before we traded it in for tablets, right?

Still working on that typewriter (based on a Synty asset). It's ready for animation now. This thing needs to actually work as a typewriter in-game, so let's see how that goes.

I'm also using this to experiment with washed-out textures, having used mostly flat-colored textures in game so far.

Just wondering: Are diagrams more interesting to look at if they've got blood splattered all over?

How I started making indie games:

- Wanted to become a game dev as a teen
- Always overscoped
- Had an existential crisis and studied humanities
- Two career changes later, came full circle and work as a programmer
- Game dev has been my most persistent hobby since

I've still a long way to go ...

Many thanks and kudos to @steinmakesgames.bsky.social , who created 60 % of the stickers on this here computer.

The only thing I don't like about #GodotFest is that it's already over.

Met so many great, inspirational people there! Thanks to everyone who worked on making it happen!

Continuing my project of buying assets and then modifying them: For a new puzzle, I need a typewriter in my game that the player can actually type on, so I've taken a model of a typewriter I got in a Synty pack and modified it to look like what you see on the right, with movable keys and carriage.

Something tells me this took you longer than 6 minutes, @smitner.studio . 🧐

No, seriously, why does everything you do with Godot make me feel like I'm just playing with wooden blocks? 😅

I wouldn't say it's specific to BMW in Germany. The blinker fluid joke would apply to any German "upper-medium" brand — see the image from an actual webshop 😀. But there's also a large tuning scene of young blokes who tune VW Golf (or Vauxhall Cavalier, when I was a child ...). They'd qualify, too.

German here. The trouble is that BMWs don't come with enough indicator fluid. You can order more online, though.

This may sound stupid and look unspectacular to anyone but me, but as a developer, this might the most satisfying thing I've added to my game as of yet.

Big shoutout to Phantom Camera, an amazing plugin for #GodotEngine that makes tweening between cameras a breeze.

I just discovered that the plugin now supports multiple camera hosts, so I can tween between cameras in subviewports and cameras in the actual game world alike.

When I began work on my game, I knew nothing about 3D. An asset bundle was on sale, and I ran with it. Now, most of my models are still Synty models, but as I'm learning more, even small changes go a long way in making the game feel unique. Here's a bought padlock turning into a combination lock.

Adding more options for people who have technical issues playing Dark Lessons. At this point, I feel like Dark Lessons is mostly a tech demo for Godot Engine graphics options.

Next game will be for GameBoy.
