I think that moral precepts are natural laws of social interaction and that embodying respect for Truth, Fairness and democratic principles in our political-economic institutions will promote a sustainable society. I hope people will demand honest markets.
Remember, DON'T set the mirror shape to aim at objects on the ground (as is done with spy satellites). If they use a CAD program to design the instrument, and it asks for 'Orbital Height', maybe you should enter, 'infinity', or the largest value possible.

I think this is what went wrong w/ HST. Shh

I understand that there can be different levels of interest depending on how similar a victim seems to be to us

But a major difference in visibility btwn these two cases is that one was recorded from multiple angles, while the other (to my knowledge) was not recorded. One is, by definition, visible

Speak out against abuse. A developer of new knowledge is like othr ppl: If they see wrong being done, they should speak out. If they were involved in creating the knowledge, they may have more influence than others due to their having a larger audience.

We can't escape responsibility thru ignorance

Simplicity is a major advantage of a policy of fees charged to industries proportional to pollution emitted, resources extracted or wildlife habitat destroyed.

Sharing proceeds to all will end poverty, without creating an incentive to be unproductive. (Social programs usually end when people earn.)

I will lose my sanity, what's left of it, if I continue following this account. I could see 1000 posts, and none will say how we can end poverty and promote sustainability. (News media don't tell us that we can align profit motive with ecological health by charging fees proportional to envt'l harm.)

A healthy society that respects individual sovereignty will allow citizens to hold back any tax money from uses that they think are corrupt or harmful. Proviso: Move the funds toward support of things that most people think are better for society.

Respect individual sovereignty -- What would that look like?
Respect moral precepts: We have a right to share in deciding limits to environmental impacts, and to benefit from natural wealth.

An honest market would charge industries for pollution and return the money to the people.

That’s not radical--it’s accounting.
