Playing that demo makes me think the game is the result of the HD-2D team at Squeenix looking at all the Classic 2D Zelda fans being sad that Nintendo has abandoned the formula and going "That's free real estate".

It is wild how much the Epic Games Store strategy is just "break the bank buying exclusives so Steam can't get them" and it literally never worked.

If anything I expect this will make people who, like me, were okay with the ending (it was fine, if abrupt) frustrated and annoyed that now we have to go back to actually experience the update.

My understanding is it's a hybrid of Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Showdown that has online ladder and is compatible with Pokemon Home

This is the actual point on which you're 100% justified to be mad. If Pokemon didn't have a monetary incentive to make the games shit and have them come out yearly, they can absolutely afford to take a few years to make "the perfect monster collection game" with all 1000+ pokemon

The short answer is twofold: A) Pokemon doesn't need to look like it costs a billion dollars because fans will buy it regardless and B) the games need to come out at a breakneck pace to justify printing new TCG cards, which is where TPCi *actually* makes like 50% of its revenue.
