Officials at #NewBedford airport say the Matthew Rodriguez Playground is back open after a rat infestation caused by last month's recycling plant fire. The city's health department gave it the all clear earlier today.🐁

Governor McKee has decided NOT to sign the state's 2026 budget over new taxes and fees it contains (the new revenue going toward things like transit and healthcare amid a drop in federal funding). It will still become law, as he is not vetoing it.

Officials in Pawtucket say demolition crews at McCoy Stadium have found one of two time capsules rumored to be hidden at the site. It (and the second if found) will be opened in a ceremony on June 23.

If you’re seeing a fireball in the sky in Somerset and Fall River this morning… no reason to panic. Somerset PD advised residents a gas company was conducting maintenance and inspections this week. This flame is part of the testing of a flare system.

Latest look at the progress of demo work at McCoy Stadium in #Pawtucket, with outfield stands and scoreboard completely gone. Prep for the construction of a new high school on the site is set to start in the summer.

For anyone wondering, an MBTA official confirmed to me that all South Coast Rail stations will have covered bike storage (pictured is East Taunton, with security camera), though you can take them with you on all SCR trains.

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell has proposed zoning changes aimed to create the city's second "transit-oriented development" district. If approved, it would allow more dense, mixed-use buildings centered around the Acushnet Ave. MBTA station, which will see South Coast Rail service start next month.

Tonight on 6: Police in Connecticut release footage from a weekend chase involving a stolen Providence police cruiser. Officers had to use spike strips to bring the multi-state pursuit to an end.

Wrentham police are looking for the owner of a dog found abandoned this morning near Joe's Rock. According to animal control officers, "Jojo" appears healthy and could be available for adoption as soon as next week.
