Maybe her parents cut her off for marrying Bill, he said he had to keep her, so no money for school fees for Amber? I had a posh friend who was completely cut off by her parents for marrying the 'wrong' person. Luckily, her grandfather had left money to her in a Trust.

Most of them are actually close to the railway and A9, Inverness Airport etc. They've got big estates round them which makes you think they are remote. Rich people put their own railways in, like Matheson built the Kyle line.

Don't forget the bombs (3 in Bristol), having your bag searched outside every shop, no central heating, everything grimey, everyday sexism, gay bashing. It was an awful decade.

The people remembering were children in the 70s, they just think the summer of 76 as lasted a decade. I remember no central heating, IRA bombs, having your bag searched outside all shops, 3 day week (pay deductions), rolling blackouts, barman being hounded out of local for being gay, etc.

I was going by her surname being Gordon. They'd have to be pretty rich to afford a castle. 😀 Didn't Amber once say her mother was in Spain visiting? But I can see history repeating, maybe why Bill was sympathetic to George? #TheArchers
