Being asked to "be curious" about your body signals when you're stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed is like being asked to solve complex math problems during an emergency - your brain simply isn't in the right state for that kind of exploration.

When you've spent years prioritizing cognitive processing, your insula's (a part of your brain) signals often get overridden by more analytical brain regions. This creates a situation where you might intellectually know you're anxious (because you recognize the logical signs) but 1/2

There was a time when I was so chronically fatigued that washing my hair was not physically possible. I had to bring a chair into the shower and take breaks. Granted I have super thick hair but still. 1/2

Attachment work is imperative for most people with a chronic illness. Fear is prevalent when your body isn’t well, and how you were taught to handle fear as a kid will show up in how you handle your chronic illness.
