You saw someone living in a machine that crushes people indefinitely and you said 'Obviously you want to live in that machine'. It's not hard to figure out, boss.

Why would I be happy to believe this? Wouldn't it be so much better if I just plunged the opiate of the masses into my arms and told myself that Republicans didn't exist and that the only reason that we don't live in a utopia is because Democrats keep betraying us?

Why would I delete it? I wish you a very happy holodomor.

I sincerely wish you could get the starvation and suffering that you want.

There are a very large number of voters in this country who want to keep us in the crushing machine, I don't know what to tell you.

It's all religion. You're telling them that Jesus/Marx isn't real, man.

Also, asking completely legitimately now that it's a dead issue, because I'm sure at the time the answer you were required to give would be 'their equipment is qualitatively the same as ours or superior' - did we have superior technology at the time? I know we had air force, hence their EW doctrine.

What, and I cannot emphasize this enough, the fuck.
How did this happen? Lack of conscription after Vietnam? Massive overspending on that?

Like I said; I'm under no delusions about the Soviet system. It took someone to bring up to me the idea that massive first use was a possibility for me to immediately go to 'yeah, okay, that's completely in keeping with their strategy and doctrine, gotta go to preparing for that, sigh.'

Interesting. What was the doctrine before then? I mean, presumably we didn't have the long-range strike capability needed to hit the Warsaw Pact on the ground even if we knew they were massing *before* changing the strategy.

Whether or not I want to live in the machine is pointless compared to whether or not I am in the machine, but it's good to know you're the kind of person who looks at a homeless guy and goes 'I bet he chose to live on the street'. Good talk.

I know plenty of white people who 'feel' that the government gives free things to black people because it feels sorry for them. I don't give a shit what they feel, I give a shit about what's true. Glad to know you can't do the same.

Maybe you can swear about how the LIBERALS are betraying you because they DIDN'T GET ELECTED and weren't able to take you out of the machine and that's why you shouldn't give them the power to take you out of the machine. Good talk.

I'm sure that your strategy of 'kick my legs and scream like a toddler until someone else takes me out of the machine' is going to work.

OK, so you're just saying that if you were told 'you are in a machine that will crush you to death over 24 hours. You are given the opportunity to rewind time to the start of the machine crushing you every so often.' you are saying 'I would refuse to touch the button.' Good to know.

Do you think the Carter buildup was enough to get us ahead of the Warsaw Pact, or does it need Reagan, too? Carter started a lot of it after Afghanistan. And how much do you think we overestimated the Warsaw Pact as we overestimated the Russians before 2022?

I also feel embarrassed that I hadn't considered the idea that the Soviets could be lying about their 'no first use' policy until someone pointed it out to me. Like, I'm certainly under no delusions about the honesty of the Russians, but I figured that nuclear signaling was trustworthy; my fault.

Makes sense. I had always assumed that we would have won the conventional war (because, you know, *gestures to the 90s*) and as such our nuclear posture of 'possible first use' didn't make sense to me - seemed too likely that there could be a mistaken launch from the Soviets, which is a concern.

As someone born in 1988, do you judge me for legitimately never considering the idea that NATO might lose a conventional war against the Warsaw Pact before it was pointed out to me? I mean, I've seen Russia post-1990, and I saw the Gulf War, not even considered when I thought about nuclear strategy.

Look, you know and I know that this is religious in nature. Nothing will get better until the Rapture/Revolution comes and Jesus/Communism rules the world, therefore, anything that happens before Rapture/Revolution is automatically bad and worse, and saying it might not be is crime against Jesus.

OK, I'm just gonna note that down as 'you think it's great to lie to people and tell them that their money is being stolen by the (((elites))) to turn them against capitalism.' You never said that, Stancil never said any individual person was doing well, just that the average person is doing well.

Do you believe it's only a bad thing to lie to people about their economic comfort level when you're telling them that things are better than they think they are, or do you also believe that it's bad to tell people that they're worse off than they actually are? Honest question.

If you think everything is constantly getting worse, then RETVRN politics are the natural endgame.
Yes, bad things happen! The things you describe are bad things!
Bad things also happened in the mythical past! But hey, 'things are terrible and constantly getting worse' gets likes and does numbers
