I lived through the tail end of Apartheid. The regime always had a legal pretext for each atrocity and was careful to preserve a veneer of legitimate legal action. The Trump regime has no such compunctions or restraints but somehow the mass kidnappings get less pushback than we used to show in RSA.

I had a TPK last Sunday.
Two FBI agents went into a Piggly Wiggly that was starting to fill with smoke. The middle aged math professor they were chasing had set fire to the potato chips aisle. As they entered, she shot one (11 under 20) Then the other. The players were stunned but will play again.

I live in Taiwan. The bad news is that I have been driven slightly mad by the helplessness I feel with the ascent of fascism in the U.S.A putting our jewel of a democracy at risk without any say in the matter.
The good news is I have now become adapted to helplessness and simply wish it were over.

I live in Taiwan. I am fluent in Mandarin, but completely illiterate. I am surrounded by ads, but they are in an alien language. This insulates me most of the time.
