Even if DeepSeek technology resulted in fewer GPUs being needed to create models, the reduced cost to train democratizes model creation.

Any entity with the necessary human resources and $10MM or so will be able to buy GPUs and create new, potentially SOTA models.

This is the new frontier we want.

Modern AI is so nascent - even still - that we really don't have a clue about who will ultimately lead the space.

Tomorrow isn't promised to OpenAI, Google, Meta, Anthropic or any other company thought to have the potential to own the space. We still have a long way to go and disruption is real.

I asked ChatGPT to create a meme for me with a black Santa. It gave me the first image. Then, I asked it for an African-American Santa and it gave me the second image. I feel like the first one is like a racial Rorschach test.

What scares me about America is how we ignore White extremism until it turns violent. We recognize the Taliban's ideology in Afghanistan—but swap 'Taliban' for 'Christian Nationalists' and 'Afghanistan' for 'America,' and ask yourself: what's the difference?

The Taliban’s religious roadmap for Afghanistan
After a grueling 20-year campaign, America concluded its war in Afghanistan where it started: with the Taliban in charge. But this isn’t your father’s Taliban. In recognition of their need for a firme...

Last year, my technology non-profit, GIAETI, published a report that discussed the impact AI would have on jobs. One of the challenges I forecasted was the reduction in entry-level/junior-level jobs. AI can do a lot of that work.

There's more in the report.
