New episodes coming through the feed from Tomayto Tomahto, a great interview show featuring some of my favourite American linguists. The latest is with Jonathan Rosa, but they're all a delight: podcastaddict.com/podcast/toma...

Unabridged is one of my all-time favorite books about language/words! Go listen to my and Stefan's convo wherever you get your podcasts; go buy the book wherever you buy books.

The AI Con is witty, smart, and accessible. It's exactly what interdisciplinary scholarship aspires to be: a more nuanced perspective on problems. In this case, the problems posed by AI may be symptomatic of broader economic + political trends.
One of the most interesting things about doing a book tour is the variety of questions @alexhanna.bsky.social & I get asked by journalists, podcast hosts, and book event audience members.

Talia Sherman, of Tomayto Tomahto, asked some really interesting ones:

Just finished. Very good and interesting! It’s true that analytic philosophy is nerdy as hell, but it can also be cool 😎
I had a great time talking about philosophy of language with @taliasherman.bsky.social for her very cool podcast about linguistics, Tomayto Tomahto! Check it out below!

It was a privilege to interview Justin about code speech, political speech, aesthetic assertions, epistemic advantages, philosophy and narrative, and our current political (dis)order.

One of the highlights for me at #LSA2024 was getting to meet Talia Sherman, host of the podcast Tomayto Tomahto --- so it was super fun to follow up with an interview for that same podcast. You can find the episode now on your favorite podcatcher. Here's the link for Podcast Addict.

There’s a lot that I can say about Emily Bender, but I think that a philosophy professor of mine said it best when he described her as the “cutting edge of technology and AI and linguistics and ethics.” Obviously some of her cutting-edge-ness concomitantly stems from the cutting-edge-ness of large language models, deep fakes, and 'artificial intelligence' inventions.
