This section of Thay’s book reminded me of an Ayah (verse) from the Quran:
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا۟ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ ۗ
“God will not change the situation of a people until they change what is in themselves” (13:11)

I really like this passage. The church or the Sangha are not “reflections” of Jesus or the Buddha; we are, instead, imperfect and therefore “the hope” or seed waiting to blossom.
