We believe that through our collective effort, academic unity, dignity, and wisdom, we will uphold the path of our foremost national mission - the path envisioned by Ilia Chavchavadze and Ivane Javakhishvili.

We demand an immediate end to all attempts to restrict university autonomy and academic freedom, and call for the initiation of an inclusive, transparent dialogue on education reform: one in which representatives of the academic community play a leading role.

This move clearly attacks university independence and feels like a direct hit aimed at anyone daring to speak out within academia!

Since most state universities are located in Tbilisi, this reform could force some of them to shut down. With the process being driven by Georgian Dream (GD), its transparency is already being seriously questioned.

🧵 Georgian Dream plans to implement a "one city – one faculty" approach for state universities. The party will decide which university will manage each faculty.
