Sure it’s called Christmas. “Awful“ comes from full of awe, etc. Language is alive; Words mean whatever conveys meaning between people. For some, Christmas = presents + string lights. So what. Christmas, a 4th CE invention, comes from “Christ’s Mass” which in fact happens every day of the year.

And since I know these venues are limiting I’ll get outta the way yes colonialism + industry-of-it-all is horrible. My point is the word adoption is used extremely differently in other contexts and I don’t see any reason to confuse and anger people with heavy handed branding.

And this gets into scenarios I know abolitionists aren’t talking about (but that’s my point, adoption is a loaded/vague word), but relative-adoption, adoption due to incurable illness, untimely death or a parent just realizing they’re in over their head.

I’d likely 90% agree w/most adoption abolitionists on the details but “abolition” categorically demands an ideological purity that waves past people’s wildly different understanding of what is meant by “adoption.”

With victims permission, I think someone needs to compile the most visceral stories into a documentary and push it into 5000 theaters before the next election. People need to see how crazy things have gotten.
