A Tetris clone where blocks have different materials. It's more involved than Tetris, but maybe too finnicky for my tastes.
There's an additional mode where you have to solve developer-designed problems of (mostly) increasing difficulty, but it grew quite repetitive quite fast.

Mega Man II, but the controls suck. Most of the game is spent navigating levels while immune to damage. Boss fights involve switching between attack mode and invincible mode in pattern with the enemy.
It's unique, but I'm not certain it's good.

In a twist that'll surprise, everyone's favourite Football game is the worst! I don't get the controls at all, and no amount of research or practice helped it feel any better to play. Even when winning, I was baffled by some of the decisions made in development.

An awkward action-platforming affair. Movement's sluggish, level design's opaque. It can be frustrating, yet overcoming the game's challenges rarely feels satisfying. It does have a decent flow to it though...
Maybe the only playable entry in the franchise.

A massive decline in quality for the franchise. Sluggish, unresponsive controls and level design that is immensely boring are the cost of a side-grade in roleplaying mechanics from Monster Land

It becomes kinda boring mid-way through, and it doesn't control quite as well as its predecessor, but the addtions keep the experience fresh for a while.

Solid arcadey platformer. Very addictive as a point-chaser, and the almost endless-runner approach to its level design works really well. Surprisingly, I prefer the Master System inputs over the Arcade version's.

Steep learning curve, but very fun. It's incredibly strategic, and compared to every other tennis game I've played, this is genuinely incredible. But the AI is easy to cheese, and finding a friend to play multiplayer with who matches your skill level is going to be unlikely.

What makes this one unique is how pick-up-and-play it is as a story experience. Less aimless than the pre-OCG entries focused on card simulation, less grindy than the pre-OCG entries focused on reaching the end.
The lack of challenge is disappointing, but it's fine.

Clunk aside, there is charm. Nice visuals, catchy music, interesting levels.
Nothing emblemizes the game's issues as strongly as the final boss, whose first stage is nigh impossible, but whose true form is a cake walk. With a better escalation in difficulty, it'd've been satisfying.

Speaking of passive and boring, it's Sacred 2! I played this as my computer died and I was in a Diablo mood, and I got this for free. It's very playable, and if all you want is a mindless grind, this does the job. It scratches a certain itch, but it's an itch I rarely have.

Considering how much time I've researched the culture, I should be a fan, but no. It's like an unremarkable entry of a 2010 indie market; quirky, edgy, empty. It's an oldschool approach, but not a good school to attend.
Passive, boring, stereotypical, and devoid of content.

I played this on PSP rather than PSX, so my view is tinted by a portable experience. Despite the game running at 20% of the speed it should, as a passive second screen game, it's actually quite decent.
Is it worth playing, considering how many better games there are? No.
