[4] On November 15th, China's Coast Guard conducted a "rights protection patrol" with several vessels near the disputed but Japanese-administered Senkaku islands.

[3] On November 15th, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense detected a PLA “joint combat readiness patrol” involving 26 aircraft and multiple naval vessels. 17 aircraft, including J-16 fighters and KJ-500 early warning aircraft, crossed the median line and entered Taiwanese airspace.

[2] On November 13th, the DSCA and the U.S. State Department notified Congress of a proposed sale to Taiwan, covering spare parts for F-16 fighters, C-130 transport aircraft, and Indigenous Defense Fighters (IDFs), valued at $330 million. This was the first such sale since December of 2024.

[1] On 11/13, Four CCG vessels entered Kinmen’s restricted waters, according to Taiwan’s Coast Guard. CCG 14603, 14515, 14609, and 14529, operated with their AIS transponders turned off and remained in the area for about two hours before departing. It was the first such incursion in over a month.

The system was supposed to be withdrawn shortly after the exercise ended on Sept. 25, but remained until at least Nov. 10, prompting local groups to protest what they feared could become a permanent deployment.

The last notified sale to Taiwan was nearly a year ago, in December 2024, for gun mounts. While categorized in our records as a “maintenance sale,” this notification is still notable as the first arms sale to Taiwan under the second Trump administration.

[4] November 9th, soldiers from Taiwan’s 2nd Operational Zone were mobilized to assist with evacuations in Guangfu Township, Hualien, ahead of Typhoon Fung-Wong’s expected landfall. The township was devastated just weeks ago by Typhoon Ragasa, causing severe flooding with more than 20 people dead.

[3] On November 6th, Taiwan's MND noted a significant ADIZ violation, with 31 aircraft crossing the median line. This upset several weeks of low activity, and was the largest single-day violation since August 8th.

[2] On November 4th, Taiwan's Marine Corps held its semi-annual joint anti-landing and beachhead combat exercise near Kaohsiung. The exercise incorporated the "Team Awareness Kit" (TAK) battlefield intelligence system and surveillance drones for the first time.

[1] On November 4th, Taiwan publicly disclosed a bidding process for the possible procurement of 635 "portable drone counter-control systems." The estimated budget is $313M~ USD.
