She spoke about the threats and coercion Taiwan faces, tariffs, semiconductors, international relations, societal resilience, the administration’s priorities and reforms, as well as how she sees Taiwan’s role on the world stage.

Hsiao was elected as Taiwan’s vice president in January 2024, after serving as de facto ambassador to the U.S., a senior advisor to the president at the National Security Council, and four terms as a lawmaker in the national legislature.
