Ohhh I didn't realize he had things to say about it. Reminds me of the creator for The Electric State, Simon Stalenhag who despite the movie adaption of his book being badly reviewed he apparently enjoyed it. 1/2

First of all I just want to say how much it means to me to see how invested a lot of you guys are in my work!I understand the concern but I just want to let you know that I personally am very happy with this movie. Yes - the tone and mood of the film is a quite sharp deviation from my book, but that is not because a failure of the film but simply because the genre has shifted from cyberpunk thriller to adventure/action. So, once you’re onboard for that, this is a great ride of a film. But most importantly- this film has a big HEART and underneath its lighthearted charm it actually carries social values that really resonates with me and feels true to the humanism that I wanted to convey with the book. Of course - it’s unbelievably cool to get to see something I’ve created become the kind or huge event movie that I loved as a kid, and I feel extremely privileged and lucky for that. Having said that though, I would never endorse this film if I it went against my beliefs and values as an adult. A lot of films in this genre today are borderline militaristic propaganda, sexist or otherwise reactionary campfire stories about how stoic strong men use aggression to beat bad guys into submission, and women characters are often sexualized and reduced to love interests for a leading man with shrinkwrapped abs. This film has none of that. What it does have however is plenty of outcasts, weirdos and freaks and we get to see how they team up against a capitalist techlord. It’s also a film about family and how you can find it in new, unexpected places outside the confines of the nuclear family.
