I actually had this conversation with my veterans in that publisher, and they've worked with publishing for over 30+ years and both would like to use linux but said scribus isn't good enough

About scribus, I've worked for a publisher and I also do layout commissions for books and printed graphics :') scribus would be the substitute of indesign in that case

For svg, web stuff and such is not a problem ofc

Cmyk is super important for printing business. Besides anything done for very large printing such as billboards can be done in vector for a cleaner look and easier upscalling while not having a heavy file. Missing cmyk in a software people usually go with to avoid illustrator is bad news for me ;v;

That I didn't try actually, I could give a look on it when I have time :O

And people are asking for that for a good while it seems TvT

But CSP is irreplaceable for me currently 🥲 I could even push myself the alternatives for everything else but not CSP

Also didn't like VM and i hate the idea of dual boot because art is my job but also my hobbie so DB would be a nuisance

I will be honest i still need to try inkscape and scribus again because I didn't put much effort on them. I could give a push to learn gimp because I didn't hate it and I actually used it to edit textures before, but for SNS work I need to be fast and so it isn't pratical for me right now. +++

If anyone can give me a definitive solution I will gladly try it xD

Also I was using arch linux (endevourOS)

I didn't run into problems with them, that I can remember. I just didn't like them. I could give another try.

As for video editing software, davinci resolve is great for my needs so far! But I still need to check if it will be good enough for more complex work.

As for photoshop, i tried gimp with the photoshop layout (photogimp?). It's not half bad but i remember needing a specific tool that gimp didn't have and the workaround was too troublesome?

I tried inkscape and I hated it? XD i need to give it another try. Same for scribus. +++

To work without a problem, not just good enough, I'm afraid.

As alternatives, I tried krita (very good actually but not for professional work. Csp and ps are the best for professional illustration). I say that as someone who used medibang for years, krita is around medibang level.

I use clip studio paint, photoshop, illustrator, indesign, vegas pro, after effects.

I tried running them with wine 10. I used the appdb in winehq to try getting the best versions and methods but they either lagged, had broken graphics or crashed.

For professional work those softwares have+

I tried to mvo e to linux twice ina week after the latest updated. But I'm an artist and I rely on creative software that simple won't work... (And no alternatives aren't as good for professional work, i tried them too...)
