The California Tahoe Conservancy will temporarily close the Eagle Rock Trail to protect public safety on Nov. 10. The Conservancy expects the trail closure to last 2 to 3 weeks, weather depending, to facilitate work to address hazard trees adjacent to the trail. tahoe.ca.gov/eagle-rock-t....

Gates and facilities close for the winter season at Van Sickle Bi-State Park on November 1, 2025. Park grounds remain open all winter to the public. The public may continue to enjoy the park’s day-use opportunities for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.

Big thanks to the Washoe Environmental Protection Dept. for taking Tahoe Conservancy staff on a field tour on Friday to view the Máyala Wáta project! The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, in partnership with the USFS Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, is restoring over 200 acres of Meeks Meadow.

Having removed any hazardous building materials, the Conservancy is demolishing the first of the two former motel buildings on the site today. Demolition of the adjacent motel building will take place later this summer or fall, making way for future environmental restoration.

Contractors have completed removing hazardous building materials from the vacant restaurant building on the site, and demolished that structure early today. Demolition of the adjacent motel buildings will take place later this summer or fall.
